Del Cerro is an older, quiet, residential community in San Diego sandwiched between Mission Valley and the College area. Here you will find classic mid century architecture with lovely views of surrounding hills and canyons.
Homes in Del Cerro were built in the 1950′s – 1970′s. Starter homes are priced in the high $300K – low $400K range and higher end homes with views go as high as a million dollars.
Although an area primarily of single family homes, there are a few condo and townhome communities in Del Cerro. The newest condo complex ‘Rancho Mission Trails’ was built in 2004 and is located on Mission Gorge Rd. My favorite townhome community is ‘Belaire.’ These homes resemble what we used to call duplexes and live like single family homes.
Allied Gardens is the oldest subdivision within Del Cerro. If you take Friars Rd east, you will run right into it. These are the oldest homes in the area typically built in the 1950′s. Owners have fixed them up and modernized them making this a popular little area for first time home buyers.
The community of Del Cerro throws an annual block party with live music, food and children’s entertainment. There is also a community wide July 4th pool party at the Del Cerro Park.
