Hillcrest
Hillcrest is one of the most vibrant villages in San Diego. Known for the fact that you can walk everywhere, Hillcrest is home to all things eclectic. It houses many different types of people from young singles to senior citizens and everything in between. It is not typically a strong area for families. Hillcrest is a center of Metro San Diego and draws residents from North Park, Normal Heights, and South Park.
Hillcrest is located just north of Balboa Park and is popular with those who like to run and walk in this magnificent San Diego icon. Very much a community of pedestrians, you will see people on foot instead of driving their cars.
Houses in Hillcrest tend towards old classics from the 1920’s through the 1940’s. There are also many condo complexes and townhomes for those who can’t afford Hillcrest’s higher prices. With a few exceptions, condo complexes tend to be small.
One of the most notable condos is the Uptown Complex which is literally in the Heart of Hillcrest. Some of the newer condos in Hillcrest include the Egyptian, Cairo, and Atlas. Entry level condos in Hillcrest begin in the $200’s and go up to a million for a luxury condo overlooking Balboa Park. Houses begin in the $400’s.
