Normal Heights offers a similar lifestyle to that of North Park and is located about a mile north, in and around Adams Avenue. Within the Normal Heights zip code of 92116, there are several distinct micro-communities.

University Heights is located just north of Hillcrest off of Washington Street. There, you will experience an extension of Hillcrest with wider streets, stately old homes, and small condo and apartment complexes.

Normal Heights proper is evident along Adams Avenue with the streets just north and south of Adams being part of this community. Long known as a ‘funky’ street with individually owned shops and restaurants, there has been change in recent years. Not only as Starbucks found it’s way to Adams, there has been an infusion of trendy restaurants and new businesses.

The streets north of Adams will take you back in time. Quiet and peaceful with Craftsman and Spanish homes, it offers sidewalks and front porches.

As you travel east on Adams, you will eventually find yourself in the charming community of Kensington. There, you will notice several blocks of coffee shops, the Kensington Theatre, restaurants and majestic palm trees. Walk down such streets as Marlborough and Ridgeway, feel the charm of days gone by. Homes here can be anywhere from 50-100 years old and have been restored time and time again with modern amenities. This old world charm is expensive though, with homes start in the $600’s and going into the millions.

For those who enjoy the neighborhood feel of Metro San Diego, with older homes and high walk-ability, Norma Heights and its various communities, offer great diversity and charm.
